CRUISE

Remember 2020-2021? The great shut down. Of course you do. No one was cruising but boy were we looking at them. Day dreaming and planning.
Then sailing a were coming back in 2021. Yay! But it was still kind of weird and seemed risky. But the lure of less then 50% guest occupancy, that was very intriguing to me. Then the offers starting rolling in. Both my email and our snail mail. Casino offers, Crown and Anchor offers. Mostly I just tossed them out. Yes, I wanted to cruise but the world was still crazy and I didn’t want to spend money on anything unnecessary. Travel is great but these offers were for pleasure and not for work. Until… free 5 night balcony from Texas, were we live. A simple 4 hour drive to port, the 5 nights strattled the weekend, a week before Christmas. Sure, it’s like a holiday cruise without the hefty price tag and fewer kids. Called and booked. Just paid the port fees and taxes and of course, pre-paid gratuities. I think we booked in October so there was a bit of a wait.
You can also typically win a free cruise on some of the bingo grand prizes at the final bingo game of the sailing. Other way to get a free cruise is to sign up with My Vegas app. I’ve notice both Royal Caribbean and Norwegian have offered free cruises from time to time. I’ve used it for $100 and $200 in on board credit in the past. I’ve never caved and bought chips to play, so it’s been a slow go at getting those points build up. I see offers for free 3,4,5 and even 7 night cruises. You typically are going to have to book a new a cruise and be ready to sail within 30 days of booking.
If you want to score a free cruise or a cheap Criuse, find a cruise line you prefer and sign up for the loyalty program. You’ll get last minute deals and offers all year. If you spend time in the casino, you should definitely join the cruise casino club. Those clubs are send you free rooms offers.

Update:
August 24th, 2024-
Just booked a casino offer with Royal for next August, in 2025! Free balcony all we paid so far was port taxes and gratuities. It’s a 6 night cruise round trip from LA with an overnight in Cabo. This will be our second complementary cruise from the casino and I was a little shocked that we got a 0% obstruction assigned. Since it’s so far out, I didn’t mind needing to buy airfare on this freebie. And we’ve kind of exhausted cruising from the port of Galveston. The itineraries are basically all the same with a few either starting or ending somewhere else, which means airfare to purchase. This will be a nice change of pace.
